Norwegian Tibetan Terrier Club's Breed Special 2023
I have had the most wonderful
judging experience, ever, with Norsk Tibetansk Terrierklubb
(NTTK). From beginning to end it was pure enjoyment
and absolute fun. MaySylvie Reiersen (the Klubb
Secretary) from first invitation to final goodbye saw to my
every need with travel, accommodation and ring secretaries
Birgitte Edvartsen, Nita Kise, and Minna Josefsson; thank
you for keeping me in order. I am just so bad with
names I am sure to leave someone out, so please forgive my
addled brain. My sincerest thanks also to Elizabeth
Høst Denstad who is also on the committee, and Trude Fjærli
who came all the way from Trøndelag to help. I must
not forget Hanna who took over 700 photos, nor should I
forget the poor husbands who chauffeured me about in much
style. Many differing translations caused much humour
and craic. It was such a pleasure and such an honour
to have my hands on so many beautiful, well-presented and
beloved Tibetan Terriers. I was certainly spoiled for choice
and my winners were quite exquisite. The exhibitors
were both sporting and kind with their acceptance of my
decisions, and also so much fun in the variety classes,
where language was certainly not a barrier to the general
banter and goodwill. The scenery to and from the hotel
and around the venue was spectacular. Before my return
to the airport a boat trip had been planned with picnic and
great views of the surrounding countryside, unfortunately I
mixed some of my medication in the wrong order and was quite
unwell so had to forego such pleasure, and I sincerely
apologise to my hosts for the change of plans. All

P.S. I am still trying to find the photo I took of the
beautiful gifts I received, and for which I am very grateful
to the secretariat of the NTTK

affording me the privilege of judging at their Mid
West Canine Club All Breed Championship Show on
Saturday 22nd April. I was truly
pleased to see my BOB White Swiss Shepherd Dog IR CH
ARLO NIKTEL ANGEL (MR Chris Bergin and Ms Sheila
Bergin Bergin) take second place in Group 1.
I could have taken him home with me in a
heartbeat; he was so handsome and correct.
I love this venue, and the car parking team
are always so attentive to everyone, but especially
to the needs of us less able bodied.
Thank you all you did a truly spectacular job
under very trying circumstances.
Myles you really need to have a word with the man
upstairs so that he is kinder to us with the
weather!

OMG even Carlsberg couldn’t top
this weekend. Taking the reserves
yesterday, today brother and sister - Blue and Jodie
pulled out all the stops. With
the same entry as yesterday Blue romped home with
the Green Star and Best of Breed, expertly piloted
by Grace Maguire. Grace has such
a way with the loony tune. He is madly in love with
her, and was so excited to see Grace again after a
long absence due to her extremely important exams.
What can I say about Jodie; she is a dream in
motion and claimed her third Green Star today.
Now poor auld Michael (sorry young Michael)
has to get her bathed and groomed again as she heads
to Pup the Year, qualified by Best in Show Judge
Dione Fitzsimons. I must say that
Michael Scanlon with his first litter to hit the
shows, has pushed it out of the ball park to produce
such quality. I take my hat off
to him as he does all his preparation and research
before he takes anything on. So
big big Congratulations Michael, to win Best Puppy
in Show with the first puppy you have bred is
testament to your hard work and dedication to a
breed that you are so passionate about for all the
right reasons. Way to go
Cliffmeadow Tibetan Terriers, I couldn’t be happier
for you, and look forward to cheering you on from
the side-lines tomorrow night. As
usual neither of us had a camera, so I have to dig
into history and pull out past photos, and the photo
of Blue was taken last August, when he was just a
raw puppy!

IMPORTANT
ANNOUNCEMENT
Any dog owners - there’s a bad
virus going round at the moment, reading about it non stop.
Vets are putting out advice as it’s spreading really fast
and they’re seeing an advanced amount of admissions.
Try stay away from parks, don’t
let your dog drink outside water, puddles etc and not to
sniff
.
And clean your dogs paws after every walk in case they’ve
walked in the virus then catch it when cleaning themselves
This is from a vet
Vets are reporting higher than
usual occurrences of gastroenteritis in dogs which is
fitting with a wider phenomenon as reported by The Small
Animal Veterinary Surveillance Network (SAVSNET). So far we
have found that the cases seen- whilst clearly being poorly-
have responded well to treatment.
The British Veterinary Association
(BVA) advise that with prompt veterinary treatment almost
all dogs make a full recovery from this uncommonly violent
gastric bug.
How Is This Vomiting Bug
Different?
According to Vet Dr Danielle
Greenberg of SAVSNET, this vomiting bug is unusual due to:
Prolific vomiting of 5 or more
episodes in a 12 hour period which can stop for a period
(such as overnight) and then starts again
Dogs are often unable to keep
water down at peak vomiting stage
Anorexia and lethargy for 2-5 days
Diarrhoea: Most dogs have
‘gravy-like’ diarrhoea
Full recovery can take 5-10 days
What We Know So Far:
This outbreak is affecting areas
across the Midlands, Wales, the North of England and
Northern Ireland
The illness is most likely a virus
but has not yet been identified.
Seems to be dog-specific,
thankfully humans don’t appear to be at risk.
This is not caused by Parvo or
Salmonella
